Over the years, the medical community has become remarkably adept at identifying disease based on the appearance of outward symptoms.

The trouble is, by the time some diseases have progressed to the point where there are outward symptoms, it may be too late.

Heart disease is one such example. For nearly 150,000 Americans each year, a fatal heart attack is the first and only symptom they will ever experience. Current assessment methods, such as cholesterol and stress testing, fail to detect heart disease in the majority of people who have it.

Lung disease is another example. Outward symptoms of lung cancer may not be apparent until the disease has reached stage III or stage IV. At this time, the five-year survival rate is less than five percent. But when assessed with EBCT screening and detected at an earlier stage, lung cancer survival rates improve to more than 65%.

While screening tests for colon cancer have been around for decades, more than three-quarters of the people who should be screened, avoid it—possibly due to the invasive or embarrassing nature of the colon scope. As a result, colon cancer—which is 90% curable when detected early—continues to be a leading cause of cancer death.

EBT Heart & Body Imaging was founded as a better option for people who want to give themselves an edge in the fight against heart disease and cancer. The premise is simple: the same technology that is used to diagnose disease can now be used to detect pre-clinical disease. If you can detect disease early, your doctor can intervene in a timely manner and change the course of the disease process and therefore the quality of your life.
